Consent + safety

Spray tan consent + DHA disclosure

Glowtoure uses professional sunless solutions containing DHA (Dihydroxyacetone), the active ingredient that reacts with the outer layer of skin to create a temporary bronze. DHA is for external application and should not be inhaled, ingested, or exposed to the eyes, lips, nose, or mucous membranes. Because the application is a fine mist, protective items are available and recommended: nose filters, eye protection, and lip balm/barrier.

Skin sensitivity acknowledgment

Every client’s skin is different. Some people may experience sensitivity, irritation, allergic reaction, uneven development, discoloration, or an unexpected response. Please tell your artist before your appointment about any allergies, sensitive skin, eczema/psoriasis/rosacea/dermatitis, respiratory concerns, recent sunburn, open skin, recent cosmetic treatments, retinol/acids/ acne products, Accutane, or medications that may affect your skin. Glowtoure does not provide medical advice — if unsure, consult your physician. Glowtoure may refuse, pause, or reschedule service for a visible skin or safety concern.

Trial tan recommendation

If this is your first spray tan, a trial is strongly recommended before any major event. For weddings, photoshoots, vacations, proms, or milestones, schedule a trial about 3–4 weeks before so we can test your shade, see how your skin develops and fades, and adjust before the final appointment.

Preparation

Preparation acknowledgment

Best results come from good prep: exfoliate 24–48 hours before (no oil-based or coffee scrubs), shave 12–24 hours before / wax 24–48 hours before, and arrive with clean, dry, product-free skin (no lotion, deodorant, makeup, perfume, sunscreen, or oils). Wear loose, dark clothing and open-toe shoes after, and plan around rain, water, heat, and sweating.

Comfort

Attire + comfort level

You may dress down to your personal comfort level — nude, disposable thong, your own underwear, swimsuit, or any coverage you prefer. For men, bottoms are required (shorts, boxers, briefs, underwear, or swim trunks). Your modesty and comfort are respected at all times.

Environment

Studio + mobile appointment environment

For mobile appointments, I’m responsible for providing a safe, clean, accessible indoor space — room for the tent and equipment, working power, good lighting, protection from wind/rain/pets/foot traffic, a comfortable temperature, and air free of cooking smoke, heavy fragrance, dust, or debris. Please keep pets, children, and others away from the active spray area. Glowtoure may refuse, pause, or reschedule a mobile appointment if the space is unsafe or unsuitable.

Aftercare

Aftercare acknowledgment

While my tan develops, I’ll avoid water, sweating, friction, tight clothing, lotions/oils/perfumes, makeup, and rubbing the skin. Brown cosmetic bronzer washing off in my first rinse is normal. I’ll use lukewarm water for the first rinse, skip soap/exfoliating, pat dry, and moisturize daily after development. Results typically last about 7–10 days, varying by skin type, prep, aftercare, activity, and lifestyle.

Results

Results + no guarantee

Each tan is customized, but results vary person to person. Glowtoure can’t guarantee exact depth, longevity, or fading due to factors outside the artist’s control — skin type, pH, hormones, medications, allergies, prep, aftercare, sweating, water, friction, products, existing self-tanner, or sun exposure. Arriving unprepared, with product on my skin, in tight clothing, or not following aftercare may affect my results.

Sun protection

Sun protection warning

A spray tan does not contain sunscreen and does not protect against sunburn. Repeated UV exposure can increase the risk of sunburn, premature aging, and skin cancer, even if I don’t burn. I should still wear SPF in the sun.

Belongings

Staining + personal belongings

Cosmetic bronzer may transfer onto clothing, sheets, towels, undergarments, shoes, furniture, or car seats before my first rinse. While most washes out, Glowtoure isn’t responsible for staining or damage to clothing, linens, furniture, vehicles, or personal items. I’ll wear loose, dark clothing and avoid light or delicate fabrics before my first rinse.

Privacy

Privacy notice

Glowtoure collects this information for appointment prep, safety screening, service customization, communication, and client records. Glowtoure may share your information with third-party service providers (e.g., booking tools, payment processors, email providers) as necessary to deliver the service. Glowtoure does not sell your personal information. Because this form is completed online, please review Glowtoure’s Privacy Policy for how information is collected, used, stored, and your privacy rights. Records of this form, including your electronic signature, are stored in a secure, tamper-resistant manner that preserves the date, time, form version, and your responses.

This is separate from service consent — your tan does not depend on giving photo permission. You may revoke future permission in writing (revocation may not apply to materials already used). For minors, only a parent/guardian may grant permission.

Minor client policy

Clients under 18 must have a parent or legal guardian complete and sign this form before service. A guardian may be required to remain present, appropriate coverage is required, and photo/video permission must be granted by the guardian.

Legal

California law limitation

This consent and release is enforceable only to the fullest extent permitted by California law. Nothing here waives rights or claims that cannot legally be waived, including claims based on fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, or violation of law. Section 1668 of the California Civil Code invalidates contracts that seek to exempt a party from responsibility for violating statutory duties relating to public safety. If a court determines any part of this agreement violates Section 1668 or other laws, that part will be severed and the remainder enforced.

Legal

Governing law & dispute resolution

These terms and any dispute or claim arising from your spray-tan service are governed by the laws of the State of California. To the extent permitted by law, any dispute shall be resolved in the courts of Yuba County, California, or in small-claims court if the claim qualifies. You agree to submit to the personal jurisdiction of those courts. Nothing in this clause limits your rights under California law.

Assumption of risk & release of liability

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY. THIS SECTION AFFECTS YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS.

Nature of the service and risks. Spray tanning applies a cosmetic sunless solution containing DHA to the outer layer of your skin. Even with reasonable care, risks may include skin irritation, allergic reaction, respiratory discomfort, eye, nose, lip or mucous-membrane exposure, uneven color, discoloration, staining, transfer to clothing, dryness, or other undesired results. These risks may be increased by your skin type, allergies, sensitivities, medical conditions, medications, pregnancy or nursing status, preparation, aftercare, clothing, and environment. You may stop the service at any time.

Voluntary assumption of risk. I voluntarily choose to receive the service and assume its ordinary risks, including any decision to decline protective items. I acknowledge I have disclosed all relevant health and skin information and understand that failure to do so may increase risk.

Release and hold harmless. To the fullest extent permitted by California law, I release and hold harmless Glowtoure, its owners, artists, employees, contractors, and representatives from any and all claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to the service, including claims based on ordinary negligence, allergic reaction, sensitivity, staining, transfer, uneven fading, discoloration, product interaction, or failure to follow preparation or aftercare. This release does not apply to claims that cannot legally be waived, including gross negligence, willful misconduct, fraud, reckless conduct, or violation of law.

Indemnification. If I bring a claim against Glowtoure that is determined to fall within the scope of this release, I agree to reimburse Glowtoure for its costs and attorneys’ fees incurred in defending it.

No guarantee. Glowtoure does not guarantee specific results; individual results vary due to skin type, preparation, aftercare, and other factors outside Glowtoure’s control.

Severability. If any portion of this release is held unenforceable, the remainder stays in effect to the fullest extent permitted by law.
